July 9, 2013, 3:10 pm (Rapid City, SD) – The Rapid City Rush announced today that forward Konrad Reeder will return to the Black Hills for the 2013-14 season. Among CHL leaders, the veteran forward finished 3rd in goals and points during the 2011-12 campaign before spending last season in France. “Konrad is not the biggest guy on the ice, but his no fear attitude allows him to play a big man’s game,” said Rush Head Coach Ferras. “He is a player that will serve as a cornerstone of this hockey club. He leads by example through his tireless work ethic, wants nothing more than to win on a nightly basis, and this will reverberate throughout the locker room with all of our young players.” Reeder, 31, spent the 2012-13 season skating for Morzine-Avoriaz in France where he totaled 35 points, including a team-leading 19 goals in 25 games. During the 2011-12 season, Reeder led the Rush in goals (37), points (82), powerplay goals (8), powerplay points (20), game-Winning%20Goals (7) and shots (244). That season, the 5’9” 175-pound scorer also earned ninth hat trick in team history (1/30 @ BLM). “We are very happy to be returning to the Rush and the Black Hills,” said Reeder. “I'm very excited to be a part of bringing a championship back to Rapid City. Coach Ferras is putting together a very good team this year, and I'm honored to have the chance to play in front of the best fans in the CHL. I want to thank Coach Ferras and the entire Rush organization for this opportunity.” Reeder was acquired via trade from the Arizona Sundogs in January of 2011, quickly becoming Rapid City’s most potent scorer after beginning that season in Germany. For the Rush, Reeder finished 5th in goals (16), points (42) and rating (+12) despite playing in exactly half of the regular season games (33). “To have our leading goal scorer and point getter from 2011-12 season come back to Rapid City will give us a big boost in our offensive production,” continued Ferras. “Konrad is a player that is very comfortable playing all three forward positions 5-on-5, as well as special teams. This gives us an impact player with an incredible compete level and numerous options from a coaching perspective.” Reeder, a native of Vanderhoof, British Columbia, has appeared in 334 career CHL games and has amassed 168 goals and 228 assists for 396 total points. Reeder’s most productive season came in 2007-08 while a member of the New Mexico Scorpions. That year, he finished second in the CHL in scoring with 108 points (41g, 67a). His 41 goals ranked tied for third overall in the league, while his 67 assists were third-most in the CHL. As a rookie during the 2006-07 season, Reeder tallied 39 points (18g,21a) and finished tied for second in scoring in the CHL during the 2007 Playoffs with 28 points (11g,17a) Other Rush News: Season tickets for the 2013-14 season are available now by calling the Rush office at 716-7825.
