(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush are pleased to announce the return of their annual “Pink at the Rink” game, supporting our community’s fight against breast cancer, and our community’s initiative to help contribute to breast cancer research. The game also honors those who have unfortunately lost their battles with cancer, those who have fought and survived their battles, and those who are still fighting to this day.
The game will be held on Friday, Jan. 24th as the Rush square off against the Wichita Thunder, and is sponsored by the Dave Davis Agency. The Rush will wear pink specialty jerseys to be auctioned off following the conclusion of the game, and all proceeds will benefit the Rush Foundation, with a portion of them being sent to Rapid City Regional Health. As the game progresses, buckets will be passed around each period by members of the Rush Party Patrol and staff asking Rush fans for donations. If by the end of the night the team collects $10,000 or more from our fans in donations, then the Rush players will shave their hair in honor of breast cancer awareness. The Pink at the Rink player haircuts are sponsored by Great Clips, and the haircuts will take place on Monday, Jan. 27th at 11:30 am at the West Main Great Clips location. Tickets are still on sale for the game, so make sure you come out and support such a heartwarming event!
Over the past five years, this event has totaled $186,237.71, all of which has been donated locally in the Rapid City community. Last year, all the related events (Pink at the Rink Auction, head-shaving etc), helped write a check for $31,442.22.
