TIP-A-PLAYER EVENT SUCCEEDS ONCE AGAIN

(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush held their 4th Annual “Tip-A-Player” Event, held at Buffalo Wild Wings last night. The event, which benefits the Special Olympics Rapd City Flame, raised $4,323.

Each player was partnered up with one or two Special Olympians and a Buffalo Wild Wings server, helping them work throughout the event, which lasted from 5-9 PM. ALL of the tips that the players received went straight to the Special Olympics Rapid City Flame. On top of grossing all of the players tips, raffle tickets for a flat screen TV courtesy of WOW! were sold by BWW staff and Rush players throughout the evening. Over the past few years, the event has raised $4,000 last year, and has amassed a total of over $15,000 with the help of corporate sponsors since the event’s inception.

“The parking lot was packed when we drove in, so lots of people came and showed up to the event,” said Rush defenseman Justin Sawyer, participating in his this event for the second time. “For me, my favorite part of the event is seeing all of the different people come out and band together to support the Rush and our local athletes.”

“This is great. It goes towards such a great cause,” said Rush forward Matt Larke, who participated in his first “Tip-A-Player” Event as a member of the Rush. “These Special Olympics athletes have so much heart, and it’s great to see the smiles on their faces.” Also participating for the first time was rookie forward Kyle Stroh, who said “It was a little overwhelming at times. I’ve never waited before, so it’s tough but it’s good to help out. Glad I could help out the ones in need that need it the most.”

Even Nugget, the team mascot, was happy to see the high number of donations coming to the Rush players for this amazing event.
