RUSH GARNER CHL BEST OF THE BEST AWARDS

(GLENDALE, AZ) – The CHL’s annual “Best of the Best” Poll is a poll taken by participants all around the league, including General Managers, Broadcasters, Head Coaches, and even the players themselves. Each of the highlighted groups gives their top three choices for 50 different categories, among which are player related (best playmaker, best goaltender, best fighter etc.), team staff related (best broadcaster, best training/equipment staff), and related to facilities and fans (best fans, most annoying fans, best ice, hardest place to play etc.). The Rush are prominently featured in the poll results every season, and this year is no different. Out of the 50 categories voted upon, the Rush players, staff, and fans came home with top-three finishes in 23 of the categories, with 6 in first place.

On the player side, nine Rush players were recognized in twelve different categories. Konrad Reeder sped by many players as he was named the third Fastest Skater in the league. Jesse Schultz was voted second for Best Stickhandler and Best Shooter in Shootouts, and voted third Best Playmaker. Winston Day Chief was voted third in both Most Underrated Player and Best Power Forward categories. Scott Wray finished second for Best Leader, and both Jared Brown and Sean Erickson placed third in their categories: Best Shooter in Shootouts and Most Offensive Defenseman, respectively. Tim Boron finished second for Best Goaltender, but received the top slot for Best Goaltender in Shootouts. Third place in Best Fighter (Heavyweight) goes to Justin Sawyer, and on the flip side of things, Anthony Perdicaro was voted the third Most Annoying Player. The team as a whole was named the Most Skilled Team in the CHL.

In just his rookie season, Mark Binetti, the “Voice of the Rush”, was named the third Best Broadcaster in the CHL, receiving one first place vote, two second place votes, and three third place votes. Binetti also helped the Rush to a third place finish for Best Game Notes. Also in her rookie season, Director of Game Operations Ashley Leipold helped the Rush place second for Best On-Ice Promotions. Equipment Manager Romeo Vivit and Athletic Trainer Bobby Moore led the Rush claim first for Best Training/Equipment staff in the league. Rushmore Plaza Civic Center received recognition on three counts: first for Best Arena Music, first for Best Ice for four years, and second for Toughest Place to Play. The Rush fans also garnered second for Best Fans in the CHL, and the Rush Booster Club repeated as the Best Booster Club.

Congratulations to everyone with the Rush organization who received CHL recognition!!!
