(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush is announcing the acquisition of defenseman Landon Oslanski from the Stockton Thunder by virtue of a trade this morning. The trade was made for undisclosed terms.
“We’re always looking to add players that have ECHL experience, youth, and speed,” said Head coach and GM Joe Ferras. “Landon had a great rookie season last year with the Thunder, averaging almost a half-a-point a game as a defenseman in a very difficult division, and we look for him to build off of his success from his rookie season.”
Oslanski joins the Rush after a stellar rookie season with the Stockton Thunder last year in the ECHL. As a rookie, the 5’10”, 190-pound defenseman played in 67 games in southern California, scoring 8 goals with 19 assists for 27 points. He finished the season in a three-way tied for second on the Thunder in plus/minus rating (+4), and contributed 2 assists in 7 Kelly Cup Playoff games.
A native of Camrose, Alberta, Oslanski, 22, begins his second season as a professional, all in the ECHL. Prior to playing professionally, he spent four seasons in the WHL with the Spokane Chiefs, Lethbridge Hurricanes, and Everett Silvertips, playing in 279 games and notching 118 total points in that timeframe. After the conclusion of his junior career, Oslanski was brought on as an amateur by the Thunder, and participated in the 2012-13 Kelly Cup Playoffs, recording a lone assist in his 6 appearances.
