(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush is pleased to announce the acquisition of forward Robin Soudek. Soudek comes to the Rush by virtue of a trade with the Stockton Thunder for undisclosed terms. This transaction marks the second time the Thunder and Rush have traded this season, with the prior transaction being the trade for Landon Oslanski.
“Robin is someone Rush fans are very familiar with because of his time as a member of the Denver Cutthroats last season,” said Rush Head coach and GM Joe Ferras. “Robin is a winger that brings great offensive creativity up front to our forward lines, and he skates very well. He is a very talented, young hockey player and will be a very welcome addition to our club.”
A native of Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, Soudek, 23, has started his second season of professional hockey, and his first in the ECHL. Before coming to the Black Hills, Soudek suited up in 9 games with the Thunder, scoring 4 goals with 2 assists for 6 points. As a rookie last season, he played with the Denver Cutthroats, scoring 14 goals along with 6 assists for 20 points in 41 games played. Soudek added another 7 points in the playoffs (3G, 4 Ast), as Denver fell to the Allen Americans in the Ray Miron President’s Cup Finals. In addition to his time with the Cutthroats, Soudek also earned his first call-up to the AHL last year, scoring 1 goal in 3 appearances with the Lake Eerie Monsters. As a junior, Soudek represented the Czech Republic twice in the World Junior Championships on the U18 and U20 squads. Prior to playing professionally, he spent time playing juniors in his native Czech Republic and in North America, playing for the Chilliwack Bruins, the Victoria Royals, and the Edmonton Oil Kings, all in the WHL.
