(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush announced earlier today the acquisition of third-year forward Michael Dorr. Dorr comes to the Rush by virtue of a free-agent signing.
Dorr, 26, most recently suited up in the European professional ranks in Germany for the last two years with EHC Klostersee (Ger3) and EC Bad Neuheim (DEL2). With EHC Klostersee as a rookie, Dorr was the leading scorer in the entire league with 72 points (35 G, 37 Ast) in 40 games, and was named Player of the Year in the league.
Prior to playing professionally, Roseville, MN native played collegiately at both the University of Minnesota and at Minnesota State-Mankato, serving as a captain with the latter in his senior year. Dorr also played junior hockey with the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL, winning a Clark Cup National Championship in the 2005-2006 season. Following his collegiate success, he played in 8 games with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays at the end of the 2011-12 season, recording up 2 goals with 3 assists for 5 points, while also playing in 9 Kelly Cup Playoff games and adding 4 more points (2 G, 2 Ast).
