RYAN MISIAK RETURNS FOR 2016-17 SEASON

(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, announced today that second-year forward/defenseman Ryan Misiak has been signed and will return to the Rush for the upcoming 2016-17 ECHL season.

“We’re happy to have Ryan back. He’s a versatile player that can play all three forward positions, and defense as well,” said Rush Head Coach Mark DeSantis. “It’s hard to find a utility player such as Ryan. We expect him to come in great shape and battle every day like he did for us in the games he played last season.”

Misiak comes back to the Rush after splitting time between the Utah Grizzlies and the Rush. A rookie last season, the 5’11”, 187-pound two-way skater spent the first 41 games of the campaign with the Grizzlies and registered 2 goals and 11 assists for 13 total points. He was then sent to the Rush in a trade for future considerations and continued his consistent production, providing 5 goals, 11 assists, and 16 points in 28 games in the Black Hills.

“The very first opportunity I had to sign with the Rush I took. I am so excited to be back with the Rush organization for next season,” Misiak said of his return to the Black Hills. “The fans, the staff, the coaching, it’s all amazing with the Rush. From start to finish, all I see is a championship with this team. With what Coach DeSantis is putting together, plus the addition of Daniel Tetrault to the coaching staff, we’re going to see so much success next season and I can’t wait for October to come.”

Misiak, 24, now enters his second season of professional hockey. His ECHL career began last season with the Reading Royals as an amateur, playing in 4 games in Pennsylvania. Prior to playing professionally, the native of Shelby Township, Michigan attended Mercyhurst University, where he notched 119 points in 156 games and was twice named as a second-team All-Conference selection in the AHA. Additionally, he totaled 75 points in 109 USHL games with the Sioux Falls Stampede and the Muskegon Lumberjacks, and was named as an All-Star with Muskegon in the 2010/11 season.
