MORRISON NAMED CCM/ECHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced today that Rush net-minder Adam Morrison has been named the CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the week for the week of 11/14-11/20. He becomes the third Rush goaltender to win the award, joining current teammate Marek Langhamer and current Goaltending Consultant Danny Battochio, both of whom won it last season.

“Adam has come in and played lights out for us. He absolutely deserves this recognition” said Rush Head Coach Mark DeSantis on his net-minder’s recognition. “He has given us the confidence as a group to know we have great goaltending and that he can come up with the big saves we need.”

This is the third time in his career that Morrison has earned the weekly honor. The 6’3”, 195-pound backstopper won both of his appearances against the then-ECHL #1 Tulsa Oilers last week, posting a 37-save shutout, the eighth of his career, in a 2-0 win on Wednesday, and stopped 36 of 38 shots in a 3-2 win on Friday night. On the week, Morrison went 2-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and 0.973 SV%.

“I’m very grateful to be receiving this award, and to be given this opportunity from the Rapid City Rush organization,” said Rush goaltender Adam Morrison on receiving his third Goaltender of the Week honor. “Also, I’d like to thank my teammates because they are the reason that I am in this position and a big reason why we have walked away with 8 points in our last 4 games. This is a nice way to start with a new team, but I expect a lot from myself and am only going to continue to work and keep moving forward.”

This season, Morrison came to the Rush after his ECHL rights were acquired from the Reading Royals. He has claimed the win in all three of his starts with the Rush, going 3-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA, 0.974 SV%, and 1 shutout to his credit. In his ECHL career, the White Rock, British Columbia native has played 75 games with the Rush, Reading Royals, Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Fort Wayne Komets, Utah Grizzlies, and South Carolina Stingrays, registering a 36-23-12 record with a 2.68 GAA, 0.913 SV%, and 8 shutouts. Prior to playing professionally, Morrison tended goal for the Vancouver Giants and Saskatoon Blades in the WHL over four seasons, and was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2009 NHL Draft (#rd Rd-#81).
