RUSH FALL IN OT; POINT STREAK TO SEVEN GAMES

(WINDSOR, CO) – Michael Young provided the lone Rapid City Rush goal in regulation, but the Colorado Eagles got the first professional goal from Josh Nicholls to win in overtime over the Rapid City Rush on Saturday night. The game marks the third consecutive meeting in which both teams played more than 60 minutes, and the point earned in the overtime loss extends the Rush point streak to seven games, taking 12 of a possible 14 points in that span.

The Rush started off the rubber match with the first goal in the contest, marking three games in a row that the Rush have notched the opening tally. With 9:16 left in the first period, Hunter Fejes and Mark Cooper worked the puck up to Michael Young on the blue line, who flung a wrist shot by Eagles goalie Clarke Saunders to give the Rush a 1-0 lead (Fejes and Cooper assisted). The Eagles struck back almost five minutes later with a shorthanded tally on the first Rush power play of the game. Matt Garbowsky finished a rush down the ice within close range of Rush net-minder Adam Morrison, tying the game at 1-1 heading into the second period (Ryan Harrison had the lone assist). Both teams skated to scoreless draws in the second and third periods, despite the Rush outshooting the Eagles 25-13 in those last two frames.

For a third game in a row, the Eagles and Rush played overtime, and for a second time in those matchups, the Eagles took the second point in the three-on-three session. Josh Nicholls scored his first professional goal when he went on a two-on-none break into the Rush zone. He took it himself and beat Morrison by the glove to give the Eagles the 2-1 overtime win.

Adam Morrison remains undefeated in regulation, remaining so while extending the Rush point streak to seven games with 23 saves on 25 shots (4-0-2).

The Rush head home to take on the Wichita Thunder in a pair of matchups next Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd. December 2nd is our first-ever Star Wars Night, featuring specialty jerseys, a costume contest for those dressed in Star Wars costumes, a rally towel giveaway sponsored Professional Metal Works, and a Star Wars mask giveaway, and much more! December 3rd is our annual Teddy Bear Toss, so bring a bear to throw out to the ice when the Rush score their first goal! Call 716-7825 for more details and to get your tickets.
