MORRISON NAMED GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK FOR SECOND TIME

(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced today that Adam Morrison has been named CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of February 13th-February 19th. It is the second time this season, and fourth time in his career, that Morrison has earned the honor.

Morrison started in three consecutive games in three days in two cities last week, and won each start. The 6’3”, 195-pound net-minder’s week began against the Tulsa Oilers on Friday, February 17th, when he stopped 35 of 38 shots faced to help the Rush to a 5-3 win and a season series sweep of the Oilers. The next night, the Rush traveled to take on the two-time defending Kelly Cup Champion Allen Americans, and Morrison stopped 27 more shots on 30 faced in what became a 4-3 overtime victory. In the final matchup of the weekend, the fifth-year net-minder stopped all but 2 of 40 shots faced against Allen in a 3-2 regulation win, giving the Rush an eventual sweep of their four-game/five-night/three-city road trip, including a sweep against the then-ECHL’s best Allen Americans. Statistically, Morrison stopped 100 of 108 shots (0.926 SV%), had a 3-0-0 record in as many starts, and a 2.64 GAA.

Regarding Morrison’s second recognition of the season, Rush Head Coach Mark DeSantis said “When you have great goaltending it transpires in team confidence and Adam had a great week in helping us win 3 of the 4 games. Congratulations go to Adam on a great week in net.”

Morrison, in his fifth year professional and first with the Rush, has an overall record of 10-8-4 in 23 appearances, a 3.04 GAA, a 0.909 SV%, and one shutout. All-time in his ECHL career with the Rush, Fort Wayne Komets, Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Reading Royals, and South Carolina Stingrays, the White Rock, British Columbia native has seen action in 95 contests, and has compiled an overall record of 43-31-16 with eight shutouts to his credit. Prior to playing professionally, Morrison played major-junior hockey with the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades and Vancouver Giants, and was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2009 NHL Draft (3rd Rd-#81).
