(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, announced today that forward Tanner Karty has been signed ahead of this weekend’s pair of games against the Allen Americans. The signing marks the second Black Hills Chiropractic Roster Adjustment of the day.
Karty comes to the Rush from the SPHL’s Huntsville Havoc. The 5’9”, 185-pound forward has appeared in 19 contests for the Havoc in the 2019-20 season, earning 6 goals, 8 assists, 14 points.
Hailing from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Karty was an NCAA-III level standout at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. As a senior last year, he served as Captain, and earned 12 goals, 25 assists, and 37 points in 31 games, en route to WIAC Championship and All-Conference honors, USCHO First Team honors, AHCA First Team All-American recognition, and the 2019 NCAA-III National Championship. In his college career, Karty played in 108 games, earning totals of 51 goals, 77 assists, and 108 points. As a junior in 2017-18, Karty registered career-highs in every single category, unleashing 22 goals, 26 assists, and 48 points, receiving WIAC All-Conference and Player of the Year honors. He turned professional following the conclusion of his college career last season with his home state Tulsa Oilers, for whom he played 6 games.
Before playing in college, Karty played 200 games over four seasons with the USHL’s Des Moines Buccaneers, tabulating 111 points.
The Rush take on the ECHL-leading Allen Americans tonight, December 20th, and Saturday, December 21st. Puck drop for both games at the Allen Event Center is slated for 6:05 p.m. MDT.
The Rush return to home ice on Friday, December 27th and Saturday, December 28th against the Wichita Thunder. Puck drop for both matchups is slated for 7:05 p.m. MDT at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena.
