LAST TIME OUT: Alex Aleardi scored twice and both Jimmy Soper and Charles Martin had two assists but the Rush were beaten by the Fort Wayne Komets 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
HOME SWEET HOME: Rapid City returns home on Thursday after playing the last three games on the road. The Rush have won their last five games on home ice and are 19-11-0-0 at The Monument Ice Arena this season.
THE PLAYOFF PICTURE: Rapid City has nine games remaining on its schedule and currently sits two points out of a playoff spot. Six of the remaining games are at home with three on the road. Entering play on Thursday, second place and sixth place in the Mountain Division are separated by just five points. The Rush have three games remaining with Allen, three against Idaho, two with Wichita and one against Kansas City.
FACING OFF WITH ALLEN: Thursday is the sixth game of the season series with the Americans and Rapid City is 3-2-0-0 against Allen thus far. All of those games have taken place in Texas. Last season, the Rush went 3-1-0-1 in the regular season against the Americans and beat them in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs in five games.
THESE GUYS SCORE: The Americans employ the top-two point-getters and top-two goal-scorers in the ECHL and four of the top-ten in the league in points are on Allen’s roster. Hank Crone leads the league with 42 goals and 89 points and Jack Combs is second in the ECHL with 83 points. Colton Hargrove has 35 goals, second-most in the league, and is sixth with 74 points. Liam Finlay has 68 points, the ninth-most in the ECHL. Allen averages 3.56 goals per game, the eighth-most in the ECHL.
GOALS IN BUNCHES: Alex Aleardi had two goals on Sunday in Fort Wayne and now has seven goals in his last six games. He has three two-goal games during that six-game stretch. Aleardi has 25 goals on the season, giving him the second-most on the Rush.
ODDS AND ENDS: Jimmy Soper has six goals and four assists in seven games against Allen. He had six goals and three assists in five games with Tulsa against Allen and has one assist in the two games he has played with the Rush against the Americans…during the month of March, Rapid City is 5-1-0-0 at home and 1-4-0-0 on the road...Tyson Helgesen got in his team-leading eighth fight of the season on Sunday.
