(RAPID CITY, S.D.)- The Rapid City Rush, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced Thursday via a Heartland Health and Wellness Roster Adjustment, the opening night roster for the 2023-24 season.
The Rush will open the year with two goaltenders, seven defensemen, and 12 forwards – an identical number at each position to Scott Burt’s team last year. Goaltender Jason Pawloski and forward Riley Ginnell will begin the season on the reserve list.
Alex Aleardi will open the season as the team’s captain on the road this weekend and will serve as team captain when the Rush is away. When the Rush return home on Friday, October 27, Logan Nelson will don the “C” and will serve as captain at home. The players will switch their home and road assignments midway through the year and will act as alternate captains when not wearing the “C”. At home, Tyson Helgesen was named an alternate captain and Jimmy Soper will wear an “A” on the road. They will also switch home and road duties at the midpoint of the year.
After Calgary (AHL) assigned goaltender Connor Murphy and defenseman Jarrod Gourley to the Rush on Wednesday, Rapid City now has five players on AHL contracts (Murphy, Gourley, Matt Radomsky, Mark Duarte, and Will Riedell). There are no NHL contracted players on the opening day roster.
