(RAPID CITY, S.D.)—The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced Thursday, in an Active Life Chiropractic roster adjustment, the club has re-signed defenseman Hunter Donohoe for the 2026-27 season.
Donohoe, 26, signed his first professional contract with the Rush on March 24th. Donohoe joined the team on the road in Tahoe and proceeded to score his first pro goal on March 29th against the Knight Monsters. The South Surrey, B.C. native played six games and finished with one goal scored (1g+0a).
“I am super excited to announce my signing for this upcoming season,” said Donohoe. “The fan base and community welcomed me with open arms following the end of my collegiate career. I can’t wait to see you guys at The Monument in October. Go Rush!”
The 6-foot-5, 215-pound left-shot defenseman played five collegiate seasons in Canadian USports. Donohoe spent four years at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, then transferred to Toronto Metro University for his fifth year of eligibility. Donohoe led the Bold with 20 assists last season while playing alongside fellow Rush signee Will Portokalis.
“Hunter Donohoe is a super long and mobile defensive defenseman who stepped in at the end of last year and showed that he is ready to play professional hockey,” said Dave Smith, Rush Head Coach and General Manager. “He is great in the room and we welcome him back to Rapid City.”
Donohoe played junior hockey in the Western Hockey League and BCHL. He is the fifth defenseman to sign with the Rush this summer, all of whom are listed at 6-foot-1 or taller.
