(RAPID CITY, S.D.)—The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced Tuesday, in an Active Life Chiropractic roster adjustment, the signing of defenseman Ben Wozney for the 2026-27 season.
Wozney, 25, is set for his first professional season in the United States after spending last year overseas with Nantes in the French Ice Hockey Federation Division 1, the second tier of hockey in France. Wozney recorded 15 points in 30 games as Nantes’ top-scoring defenseman.
“I am really excited to be joining the Rush organization and excited to get to Rapid City,” said Wozney. “I have heard great things about the fans and the city, and I’m looking forward to competing every night this season.”
The 6-foot-4, 194-pound left-shot defenseman is a graduate of Bowling Green State University. A Richmond, British Columbia native, Wozney recorded 34 points (5g+29a) in 130 collegiate games across four seasons and was teammates with fellow Rush signees Seth Fyten and Eric Parker.
“Ben is a big, mobile defenseman who brings size and skating ability to our back end,” said Dave Smith, Rush Head Coach and General Manager. “Coming highly recommended from his time at Bowling Green and having gained experience playing in Europe last year, he adds depth, competitiveness, and a strong presence to our defense.”
The Rush have announced the following player signings:
Forwards (7): Ryan Wagner, Logan Nelson, Rasmus Ekström, Cole Tymkin, Kenny Belanger Jr., Seth Fyten, Ryan Mahshie
Defensemen (4): Eric Parker, Jake Ratzlaff, Andrew Noel, Ben Wozney
