(RAPID CITY, S.D.)—The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced Thursday, in an Active Life Chiropractic roster adjustment, the club has signed goaltender Shane Farkas for the 2026-27 season.
Farkas, 26, completed a four-year collegiate career at Mount Royal University in Calgary, where he played 76 total games. Farkas finished with a 51-22 career record, 2.45 goals against average, and 11 shutouts for the Cougars. He was named the USports Goaltender of the Year in 2024.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Rush,” said Farkas. “I wish it was October right now so we could get started. I have heard nothing less than the highest praise about both the organization and the city, and so I feel very fortunate and excited to be coming to such an exceptional place to play.”
The Penticton, B.C. native played four years of major junior in the Western Hockey League, split between the Portland Winterhawks and Victoria Royals. Farkas also saw time with the West Kelowna Warriors in the BCHL as a rookie.
“Signing Shane is really good for us,” said Dave Smith, Rush Head Coach and General Manager. “He is an accomplished goaltender who has a terrific history of winning hockey games. His transition to pro is an exciting time for him, and we’re happy Shane is joining the Rush organization.”
