(GLENDALE, AZ) – The Rapid City Rush (23-9-0) have maintained their spot perched on top of the CHL’s Sher-Wood Power Rankings (Coaches Poll) although their lead has slipped somewhat and the balance of first place votes has shifted as well.
The poll is released on or near the beginning and middle of each month throughout the regular season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place votes earn 9 points, etc. Teams are not permitted to vote for themselves.
The Rush have lost four of their last five games while the fast-moving second place Allen Americans (21-10-3) have gone 7-0-1 in their last eight games with two wins over the Rush. Both Rapid City and Allen received four first place votes and are separated by five points in the current poll. The third place Missouri Mavericks (21-10-1) received two first place and find themselves two points behind the Americans and seven points behind the Rush.
There was plenty of movement on the current poll with only Rapid City at the top and the St. Charles Chill (8-23-5) at the bottom standing pat. Despite sitting four games below .500, the Arizona Sundogs (14-18-1) made the biggest jump moving up 17 points and jumping from ninth place to seventh place behind their current four-game win streak. As a further recognition of their recent outstanding play, the Sundogs are ahead of the Brampton Beast (18-16-2) in the poll despite the Beast having a nine point lead in the standings over Arizona.
