RUSH CLINCH A PLAYOFF SPOT FOR FIFTH CONSECUTIVE SEASON

(RAPID CITY, SD) – It’s official Rush fans! For the fifth consecutive season, the Rapid City Rush are playing postseason hockey, fighting for their second Ray Miron President’s Cup Championship.

“It’s always a great feeling when you clinch a playoff spot and know you are going to the dance,” said Rush General Manager and Head Coach, Joe Ferras. “The parity in the CHL this year and the level of play is the best that I have seen. Every coach in the league knows that every team is capable of beating the other on any given night. Heading into the last couple of weeks of the regular season, the fans are going to be treated to some tremendous hockey as the final six playoff spots get determined.”

The Rush have taken the league by storm since their inception in 2008. In the five years the Rush have clinched a spot in the playoffs, they have averaged roughly 38 wins and 82 points a season, including a franchise record 43 wins and 93 pts in 2009/10: the team’s second year of existence. In that same historic season, the Rush won the regular season Northern Conference title and went on to defeat the Allen Americans to capture their first Central Hockey League President’s Cup Championship. To build even further on the young organization’s success, the Rush are ranked second amongst all CHL teams in wins in the last five years, claiming 192 victories

“We are very proud of our first class organization from our local ownership group, staff and all the players that have put on a Rush jersey” added Coach Ferras. “It has always been a top priority of our organization to become integrated in the community and represent Rapid City by bringing in quality people and put a quality product on the ice. To have the second most wins over the last 5 years of any team in the CHL and representing our community as role models will continue to be our organizations main focus.”

The Rush still have nine games remaining in their schedule this season, with their next matchup coming against the first place Missouri Mavericks tomorrow night at 6:05 MST. The Rush are three points behind Missouri for first place in the CHL, still in the thick of the fight for their first regular season championship in franchise history. Playoff tickets are on sale now.
