CHAMPION DEFENSEMAN TETRAULT JOINS RUSH FOR 2014-15 SEASON

(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush is pleased to announce a major addition to the blue line for the upcoming CHL season. Head Coach and GM Joe Ferras has signed defenseman Daniel Tetrault, fresh off of a Ray Miron President’s Cup Championship with the Allen Americans last season.

“To have Danny wearing a Rush jersey for the upcoming season with his experience as a top defenseman is outstanding for our club,” said Coach Ferras. “Danny is a guy who will be heavily relied upon, and is a player that’s very well-respected by his teammates and peers. He is someone that will improve all facets of our team. He’s a tremendous leader, and he’ll help bring a great sense of commitment and a culture of hard work in our locker room.”

“I am very excited to be a member of the Rapid City Rush,” said Tetrault on his signing. “I look forward to bringing a positive working attitude to the Black Hills and hope I can help bring a championship to Rapid City. I’ve always loved playing in Rapid in that crazy atmosphere.”

Tetrault comes off of a season which saw him play in all 66 regular season contests and all 17 playoff games. He scored 9 goals along with 16 assists for 25 points in the regular season, and shined for the Americans in the playoffs, notching 3 goals with 6 assists for 9 points.

“I feel I bring a veteran leadership to the ice,” added Tetrault. “I like to contribute in all facets of the game as well. At the end of the day, I hope to bring a winning attitude and a hard work ethic to the locker room.”

“As a player, Danny brings great offensive instinct, and he’s an elite puck moving defenseman that has a tremendous hockey sense,” added Ferras on Tetrault. “He has a great first pass and sees the ice very well. His compete level is outstanding, and he knows the commitment it takes to win a championship, and he will bring this winning attitude into our locker room.”

A 6’0”, 205 lb defenseman originally from La Broquerie, Manitoba, Tetrault now enters his fifteenth season of professional hockey, and his eleventh in the CHL, where he has played in 519 games with 85 goals with 212 assists for 297 points. In recognition of his stellar play on the ice, he was twice named the Most Outstanding Defenseman in his league (CHL 2001-02, IHL 2008-09). Prior to his professional success, Tetrault played for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL, and was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1997 NHL Draft (4th Round, #91 overall).
