CLARKE’S 4-POINT NIGHT POWERS RUSH TO SPLIT

(RAPID CITY, SD) – With a new month beginning, the Rapid City Rush and the Allen Americans engaged in a rematch of the previous evening. Led by a stellar special teams effort and a 4-point night by Dylan Clarke, the Rush handed the Americans their first road loss of the season, taking care of their old CHL rivals by a 4-2 score.

The tables were turned in the favor of the Rush in the first period, with discipline and special teams leading the way as the Rush scored on both of their power plays in the first period. Scoring first for the Rush was Landon Oslanski, jumping in from his blue line to slam home the rebound off of a Kyle Stroh rocket to give the Rush a 1-0 lead 12:12 into the game. Almost four minutes later on the second power play of the game, while on his way down to the ice surface, J.P. Chabot sent in a rebound off of a Dylan Clarke shot to give the Rush an early 2/2 power play and a 2-0 lead, an advantage they would carry into the second frame.

The second period was not any more kind to the Americans, as the five-on-five hockey of the Rush took flight. Scoring his fourth of the year was Kyle Stroh, tipping in a centering pass from Dylan Clarke (his third assists of the night) in the corner to extend the Rush lead to 3-0 with 13:48 left in the second period. In the third period, Tyler Ludwig ultimately broke the shutout of Danny Battochio and got the Americans on the board with his second of the year with 9:39 left in the game to cut the Rush lead to 3-1. 0/4 up to the later points of the game, the visitors from Texas would get a boost from their man-advantage unit for the only time in the weekend set. Pulling Riley Gill in favor of an extra attacker, Jack Combs would score his third goal of the weekend to put the Americans within striking distance at 3-2 with 2:54 left in the game. Exactly 25 seconds later, Dylan Clarke would cap off his stellar performance with a tip-in goal from Scott Brannon, to eventually give the Rush a 4-2 win, and a split of the series.

Danny Battochio stopped 30 of 32 shots thrown his way, recording his third win of the season in five starts (3-1-1). Dylan Clarke chalked up a season-high 4 points on the evening, assisting the first three goals of the game and scoring the final one. The Rush power play scored for the fourth consecutive game , and the penalty kill went 5/6 on the evening, allowing their first power play goal at home in five games. A road trip befalls the Rush next week as they travel to Wichita on Friday to play the Thunder, and Missouri the next night to take on the Mavericks. Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 6:05 MST.
