(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush announced today the acquisition of second-year goaltender Joe Howe. Howe comes to the Rush by virtue of a trade for future considerations with the ECHL’s Reading Royals.
“We’re in a playoff push right now, and given such a scenario, we are looking to improve our roster on a daily basis,” said Rush Head Coach and GM Joe Ferras. “Joe had an outstanding rookie year with the Cincinnati Cyclones last season, as well as at Colorado College, and we look to add depth to our goaltending with him on the roster.”
A native of Plymouth, Minnesota, Howe, 24, played 10 games in the ECHL this season with the Utah Grizzlies (8 GP, 3-3-2) and the Reading Royals (2 GP, 1-0-0), with a combined GAA of 3.40 and a combined SV % of 0.888. Last season as a rookie, he played in 7 games with the ECHL’s Missouri Mavericks, but the majority of his season was spent with the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones, where he backstopped 18 games and posted a 10-3-4 record with a 2.78 GAA and .907 SV %. Prior to playing professionally, Howe played 117 games with his alma mater, Colorado College in the NCAA, showcasing a 54-50-10 record.
