(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, are proud to announce that our community of Rapid City has advanced to the final round of Kraft Hockeyville USA!
“Buffalo Wild Wings and Native New Yorker erupted with applause and whistles when NBC announced that the Rushmore Thunderdome was was selected as one of the final two remaining rinks for Kraft Hockeyville USA,” said Rush General Manager Joe Ferras. “This is very exciting not only our hockey community, but all of our community of Rapid City. I am asking everyone to vote for the Thunderdome on April 25th and 26th at krafthockeyville.com.”
Earlier this month, it was announced that Rapid City, SD had been named as a top-10 national finalist for Kraft Hockeyville USA for a second consecutive year. After advancing to the “Final Four”, the Rushmore Thunderdome defeated Minot, North Dakota for a chance to compete for the title of Kraft Hockeyville USA. In the final round, the Thunderdome is squared up against Marquette Lakeview Arena from Marquette, Michigan.
“We’re extremely excited. Its an unbeilveable opportunity fro Rushmore Thunder Hockey,” said Dr. Chris Dietrich, Rush Medical Directorand Rushmore Thunder Squirts and Mites Coach. “It’s been said since this all started, but the fact that we are the only 100% volunteer-operated rink out of 1,500+ entries into this contest is what makes us so special. The money would not only go towards rink improvements, but also finishing our locker room project, additions to the dryland training area, and ultimately vault the Thunderdome to the standard of the best facility in the state.”
Voting for the final round begins on Monday, April 25, 2016. Should Rapid City win, they will earn the title of Kraft Hockeyville USA 2016, $150,000 in arena upgrades for the Thunderdome, and a chance to host an NHL preseason game.
