(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, announced today that college teammates, forward T.J. Sarcona and defenseman Vinny Muto, have signed with the Rush and will make their professional debuts tonight against the Idaho Steelheads. Sarcona will wear #28 and Muto will wear #37.
Sarcona and Muto both come to the Rush after the conclusion of their collegiate careers with Niagara University in the NCAA. Sarcona is a 5’11”, 185-pound forward who compiled 62 points in 136 games over the course of four seasons. He registered his best statistical season with the Purple Eagles as a freshman, racking up 22 points, split with 11 goals and assists each. Before playing college hockey, the West Islip, New York native played three seasons in the NAHL with the Amarillo Bulls, and won the 2013 Robertson Cup Championship. Muto, a 6’2”, 210-pound defenseman compiled 50 points over 136 games in four years with the Purple Eagles, also registering a career-best 19-point season as a freshman with 5 goals and 14 assists. A native of Niagara Falls, New York, Muto spent one season in the USHL with the Sioux Falls Stampeded and Lincoln Stars before joining the college ranks.
