(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, announced today that veteran forward Alex Foster has been signed by the team ahead of their first road trip of the season against the Wichita Thunder.
Foster, 33, comes to the Rush after spending the last six seasons in Europe, most recently in the EIHL with the Belfast Giants in the 2016-17 campaign. The 5’11”, 192-pound forward played in 36 games with the Giants and notched 10 goals, 18 assists, and 28 points.
A native of Canton, Michigan, Foster begins his 12th season as a professional hockey player. In his European career, Foster compiled 57 goals, 101 assists, and 158 points in 280 games in the Czech Republic (HC Sparta Praha), the DEL in Germany (Iserlohn Roosters and Adler Mannheim), the EBEL in Austria (HC Bolzano), and the Belfast Giants in the EIHL. In his North American career, Foster spent 312 games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, racking up 150 points (58g-92ast), and served as the team’s captain in the 2010-11 AHL season. He also played 3 games in the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2007-08 season. Prior to playing professionally, Foster played two years of college hockey with Bowling Green University in the NCAA, with the Danville Wings and Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL, and Danville in the NAHL.
