(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, announced today that goaltender Tyler Parks has earned the first call-up of his professional hockey career to the AHL affiliate of the Rush, the Tucson Roadrunners. This call-up marks the first Black Hills Chiropractic Roster Adjustment of the week.
Parks’ call-up comes following the best start of a season in his professional hockey career. The 6’7”, 230-pound net-minder currently boasts a record of 8-4-3-0 with 1 shutout, a 2.94 GAA, and a .916 SV%. He leaves the ECHL ranked third with 502 saves.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Parks boasts a 13-13-5 record in 36 games with the Rush over two seasons, along with one shutout, a 2.80 GAA, and .918 SV%. Before joining the Rush, he spent the majority of his career in the SPHL with the Peoria Rivermen, and led them to the 2018 SPHL Finals. In the 2017-18 season, he played in 17 games with a personal-best record of 12-3-2 with 1 shutout, a 2.58 GAA, and .915 SV%. In the playoffs, he continued his run with a 5-2 record in 7 games with another shutout, a 2.16 GAA, and .926 SV%, but fell to the Huntsville Havoc in three games in the championship round. Prior to turning professional, Parks played one season of NCAA-III hockey with Adrian College (11gp, 8-2-1, 1 SO, 1.90 GAA, .925 SV%), two seasons in the NCAA with St. Lawrence University (8gp, 2-2-0, 2.84 GAA, .871 SV%), and two seasons in the NAHL with the Springfield Jr. Blues and Minot Minotauros (63gp, 30-26-4, 3 SO, 2.78 GAA, .916 SV%).
The Rush take on the ECHL-leading Allen Americans tonight, December 20th, and Saturday, December 21st. Puck drop for both games at the Allen Event Center is slated for 6:05 p.m. MDT.
The Rush return to home ice on Friday, December 27th and Saturday, December 28th against the Wichita Thunder. Puck drop for both matchups is slated for 7:05 p.m. MDT at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena.
