(RAPID CITY, S.D.) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced Friday that defenseman Quinn Wichers has been traded to the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for forward Keltie Jeri-Leon.
“We would like to thank Quinn for his first two pro years in Rapid City. He took a chance and believed in what we were doing. He has been a warrior with us and we wish him all the best,” said Head Coach Scott Burt.
Wichers, 25, received two AHL call-ups during his two seasons in Rapid City. In 93 games for the Rush, he notched 20 points (3g – 17a). A product of Mercyhurst University, Wichers wore a letter on his sweater in each of his last two years with the Lakers.
Jeri-Leon, 23, hails from Kelowna, B.C. and is a product of the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes and Seattle Thunderbirds. He logged 250 career WHL games and tallied 110 points (58g – 52a) in his junior career.
“Having Keltie join us will bolster our forward group. He has the ability to put the puck in the net with a relentless work ethic. He will fit perfect with our group and we are very excited to add him,” said Burt.
Signed by the Maine Mariners in 2021, Jeri-Leon began his professional career in Maine with a 35-point (19g – 16a) season that earned him two AHL stints with Abbotsford and Providence. While Jeri-Leon began the 2022-23 season with Maine, he was traded to Wheeling in March of last season and scored four goals in 11 games with the Nailers. In his two-year ECHL career, Jeri-Leon has played 106 games and logged 58 points (31g – 27a).
