(RAPID CITY, S.D.) – The Rapid City Rush, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced Tuesday via a Heartland Health and Wellness roster adjustment that forward Mark Duarte and defenseman Will Riedell have been assigned to the team from Calgary (AHL). Training Camp is brought to you by Shipwrecks Bar & Grill.
Duarte, 21, from Hamilton, Ontario, posted his best season of junior hockey with 20 goals and 28 assists last year with the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds. He finished his junior career with 31 goals and 77 points in 145 OHL games.
Riedell, 27, from Greensboro, North Carolina, played 32 AHL games with the San Jose Barracuda last season. He logged 48 PIMs, 2 goals and 3 assists in San Jose while also logging 15 games with the Savannah Ghost Pirates. Riedell was a four-year letterwinner at Lake Superior State University before transferring and serving as the team captain for Ohio State in his final year of collegiate eligibility. The Rush acquired Riedell’s rights in a trade with Savannah this offseason.
Rush Training Camp started on Monday. The team will be on the ice each day throughout the week at 10:00 a.m. at The Monument Ice Arena. Practices are open to the public and the doors to the arena will open at 9:45 a.m.
The team will hold its annual intra-squad scrimmage, presented by Bud Light, on Friday, October 13th at 6:00 p.m. at The Monument Ice Arena. The game is free to attend and in lieu of admission, the Rush ask that fans bring a non-perishable food donation for Feeding South Dakota.
