(RAPID CITY, S.D.)—The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced Thursday that Harvey the Hound and Blasty the Bronco—the Calgary Flames’ and Wranglers’ mascots—will join Nugget for Affiliation Night, presented by KT Connections, this Saturday, April 4th.
The pair of mascots will join Nugget for the game, interact with fans, help pass out bobbleheads at the doors, and more. It is the first time Calgary’s mascots have attended a Rush game.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the Rory Kerins bobblehead giveaway, presented by Bluepeak. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. for season ticket holders and 6:00 p.m. for the general public. Bobblehead availability is limited and first-come, first-serve.
Harvey the Hound, introduced in 1983, is the first mascot in National Hockey League history. He has appeared twice on the Mascot Hall of Fame ballot. Distinguished by his long, red tongue, Harvey is best remembered for a 2003 incident in the Battle of Alberta during which Edmonton Oilers’ coach Craig MacTavish yanked the tongue out from the bench.
Blasty the Bronco is the Calgary Wranglers’ mascot, introduced during the team’s inaugural season in March of 2023. Blasty is a nod to the Flames’ throwback jerseys from the mid-90s, featuring a fire-breathing horse on the front.
The Rapid City Rush return home to face the Tulsa Oilers on April 1st, 3rd, and 4th at The Monument Ice Arena! We’re rolling out the C of Red on Saturday, April 4th for Affiliation Night, presented by KT Connections. Head to www.rapidcityrush.com or call 605-716-7825 to secure your seats today.
