OSLANSKI NAMED AS AN ALL-STAR ALTERNATE

(PRINCETON, NJ) – The ECHL announced today the reserve and alternate players for the upcoming 2015 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic to be held in Orlando, Florida on January 21st. “We’re very happy for Landon on his naming to the All-Star Team alternate list,” said Associate Coach of the Rapid City Rush, Mark DeSantis. “There’s a lot of potential with Landon as a young defensemen. We are thrilled to have a player of ours recognized in just our first year in the ECHL, and are honored that he has been named among the best players in the ECHL and minor-pro hockey.”

This season, Oslanski has been a formidable force on the blue line offensively, scoring 5 goals along with 13 assists for 18 points, which ranks second among Rush defensemen. Additionally, Oslanski has proven to be a key component of the Rush power play unit, ranking at the very top amongst ECHL defensemen in power play statistics: first 13 power play points, tied for second with 4 power play goals, and second with 9 power play assists. Additionally, his 13 power play points is tied for second overall in the entire league, just 1 behind All-Star Team starter Jack Combs of the Allen Americans. His power play totals have already surpassed those of his rookie season last year, where he scored 3 goals with 6 assists for 9 points on the man-advantage.

“It’s a great feeling to be named to the All-Star Team as an alternate,” said Rush defenseman Landon Oslanski on his first career All-Star recognition. “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to potentially play for, and with, some of the best players in the ECHL and at the minor-pro hockey level. I’m very grateful towards the ECHL, and most importantly to play for the Rapid City Rush and the best fans in the ECHL.”

A native of Camrose, Alberta, Oslanksi, 22, begins his second season of professional hockey, all in the ECHL. The 5’11”, 194-pound defensemen recently played in his 100th career game as a professional on January 6th against the Tulsa Oilers. As a rookie with the Stockton Thunder, he was second on the team with a +4 rating, and notched 27 points (8 goals, 19 assists), and an additional 2 assists in 7 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Prior to playing professionally, Oslanski spent 4 seasons in the WHL, recording 118 points in 278 games with the Spokane Chiefs, the Lethbridge Hurricanes, and the Everett Silvertips.
