(RAPID CITY, S.D.)—The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced on Wednesday the team has completed its hockey operations staff for the 2026-27 season with the hiring of Kohl Hedquist and Trevor McClary.
Hedquist joins the Rush coaching staff in the Assistant Coach/Video Coach/Operations/Team Services role. Hedquist comes to Rapid City after serving as the Director of Player Development during the 2025-26 season for Smoke Eaters Geleen II in the Netherlands. Kohl also served as the Director of Recruiting for Hamline University men’s hockey in NCAA Division III last season.
The Tempe, Arizona native spent the last 2 years playing overseas in Europe following his time playing NCAA Division III at Hamline University. Before pursing collegiate hockey, Hedquist served as an assistant captain as well as winning a National Championship in the USPHL.
McClary is the Rush’s new Head Equipment Manager. The Kansas City native is entering his eighth season in professional hockey. McClary’s career in sports equipment began in his hometown, where he spent three seasons as the Assistant Equipment Manager for the ECHL’s Kansas City Mavericks. He then took over as the Head Equipment Manager for the Peoria Rivermen in the SPHL, holding the role for four seasons and helping guide the organization to a President's Cup Championship.
