(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, announced that Garett Bembridge has been acquired from the Indy Fuel in exchange for future considerations.
Bembridge, a 34 year-old veteran forward, comes to the Rush after spending parts of the last two seasons with the Indy Fuel. While in Indianapolis, the 6’0”, 190-pound forward played in 102 games, notching 36 goals and 40 assists for 76 points. Two seasons ago in the 2013-14 CHL campaign, Bembridge put together the best season of his career with the CHL’s Denver Cutthroats, winning the Joe Burton Scoring Championship as the CHL’s leading scorer (42 G, 62 Ast, 104 Pts in 66 GP), finishing on the All-CHL Team, and earning CHL MVP honors, all while finishing as a Ray Miron President’s Cup finalist, falling to the eventual champion Allen Americans in five games.
A native of Melfort, Saskatchewan, Bembridge is in the midst of his 15th season of professional hockey in a career that has taken him through the CHL, ECHL, AHL, Germany (Div 2), Italy, and Asia, where he has played 890 total games, scoring 324 goals with 381 assists for 705 points. Prior to playing professionally, Garett played four seasons with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL, and was drafted in the NHL twice: first in 1999 by the New York Rangers (5th Rd-137), and then in 2001 by the Calgary Flames (7th Rd-207).
