(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, announced today that Zach Luczyk has been signed ahead of the team’s weekend series against the Idaho Steelheads.
“Zach was recommended to me by a good friend of mine and after speaking to his college coach, I knew he was a player I wanted to bring in and see what he could provide to our team for our playoff push,” said Rush Head Coach Mark DeSantis. “We’re looking for Zach to bring what he does best, and from what I’m told, he’s a physical player that finishes his checks, and has a great release.”
Luczyk, 24, comes to the Rush after finishing his final season of college hockey with Sacred Heart University of the NCAA. The 5’11”, 201-pound winger recorded 26 points in 36 games with the Pioneers, doing so by registering 12 goals and 14 assists. The native of Charlton, Massachusetts split his four years of NCAA play with Sacred Heart (73 GP, 23-29—52) and Quinnipiac University (16 GP, 4 Ast), where as a freshman with the latter institution, finished as a runner-up to Yale University for the 2013 National Championship.
