RUSH ACQUIRE SIVAK IN TRADE

(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, announced today that the team has acquired lethal scoring threat, veteran forward Peter Sivak, from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for the playing rights of Ryan Walters.

Sivak heads to the Rush having already played in 4 games in Utah, notching a lone assist while with the Grizzlies. The 5’11”, 179-pound veteran forward spent last season with the Alaska Aces, notching 35 goals, 30 assists, and 65 points in just 53 games. Sivak’s 35 goals were tied three ways for fourth-best in the ECHL.

A native of Cheb, Czech Republic, Sivak, 35, has been playing professionally in North America since the 2012-13 season with the San Francisco Bulls. In his ECHL career, he has made stops with San Francisco, Utah, Alaska, the Fort Wayne Komets, Stockton Thunder, and Orlando Solar Bears, and has amassed 136 goals, 178 assists, and 314 points in 303 games. On three different occasions in his ECHL tenure, he surpassed the 30-goal plateau. Additionally, he’s appeared in 18 AHL games with the Worcester Sharks, Abbotsford Heat, and Bridgeport Sound Tigers, adding another 5 goals and an assist for 6 points. The 2013-14 season was one of his best yet, as Sivak was named to the All-ECHL First Team, won the ECHL’s Sportsmanship Award, held the best plus/minus rating in the league (+49), was the second best scorer in the league with 83 points (31g-52ast), and won the 2014 Kelly Cup Championship with the Alaska Aces.

The Rush continue a four-game home-stand with a Wednesday night matchup against the Brampton Beast, playing their former CHL adversaries for the first time since the teams joined the ECHL in 2014. Puck drop on November 1st is slated for 7:05 p.m. at Premier Home Mortgage Ice in Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
