NOTES
BLANK SPACE: Rush net-minder Tyler Parks is playing some of the best hockey of his life. His 26-save shutout of the Thunder on Saturday was not only his second clean sheet of the season, but also vaulted him to the first 10-win season of his career at the ECHL level. The shutout win for the Rush marks their third one of the season, with Parks leading the team with a pair followed by current Tucson Roadrunners backstopper Ivan Prosvetov who has the final one. The 26 shots faced in the win is the lowest shot total in a shutout win this season for Rush net-minders (the others were 31 on 10/19-Parks, and 30 on 11/9-Prosvetov).
USE YOUR LEGS: Providing the game-winning goal in the 2-0 win on Saturday was Rush rookie Stephane Legault, who has started to heat up as of recently. With his first period tally on Saturday, the he extended his point streak to five games, where he’s notched a pair of goals and a trio of assists. In this rookie season of his, Legault now has 4 goals, 9 assists, and 13 points.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!: When playing the first game of a New Year, the Rush post a narrow 6-5-0-0 record. Only once in team history have the Rush played on New Year’s Day, beating Wichita 7-4 at home on January 1, 2010.
SHOOTERS SHOOT: The Rush have outshot their opposition in three consecutive games, claiming wins in the last two. Through 31 games this season, the Rush have outshot their opposition eight times, and won four of those matchups (4-3-1-0).
BACK TO FAMILIAR TERRITORY: Against the Grizzlies, the Rush have had great success, regardless of their finish in the standings over the last two-plus seasons. Rush Head Coach Daniel Tetraullt holds a record of 20-8-0-1 against Utah since being named the Head Coach in the 2017-18 season.
WE’RE GOING STREAKING!: Only one player carries a statistical streak into tonight’s first matchup against Utah:
- Stephane Legault: has points in five consecutive games (5gp, 2g-3ast-5pts)
