NOTES
YOU’RE TOO GENNARO-US: Rush forward Matteo Gennaro has been as advertised for the Rush since his assignment from Tucson, the AHL affiliate of the Rush. Not only has he won draws consistently for the Rush, he’s also provided an assist in all three games he’s played since his assignment.
C-D PLAYER: It’s 2020, most people probably don’t have CD players anymore, but the Rush do have Charles-David Beaudoin, who made his debut with the team following an assignment from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. Beaudoin provided the only goal for the Rush last night in the loss, cutting the team’s deficit to 2-1 heading into the final period of play. Beaudoin, a former QMJHL champion with Rimouski, has over 100 AHL games to his credit between Manitoba and Binghamton.
POWER PLAY WOES: On December 6th, the Rush struck twice on the power play in a 5-4 overtime win against Utah on home ice, and had a team power play of 20.6%. Since December 7th, however, the Rush have only managed to score one power play goal in 39 opportunities, not only going 2.5% on the power play in that stretch, but also watching their team average go down exactly 4 percentage points to 16.6% on the season. The Rush are on a five-game streak without a power play goal.
COUNT ON ONE HAND: Regarding special teams, last night was just the fifth time all season long that the Rush surrendered two power play goals in a game, the last time being against the Wheeling Nailers on December 13th.
STILL SUCCESSFUL: Against the Grizzlies, the Rush have had great success, regardless of their finish in the standings over the last two-plus seasons. Rush Head Coach Daniel Tetraullt holds a record of 20-9-0-1 against Utah since being named the Head Coach in the 2017-18 season.
WE’RE GOING STREAKING!: Two players carry statistical streaks into the second matchup against the Grizzlies:
- Peter Quenneville: has points in three straight games (3gp, 2g-1ast-3pts)
- Matteo Gennaro: has assists and points in three straight games (3gp, 3ast)
