LAST TIME OUT: Calder Brooks scored twice and the Rush withstood a late push as they beat the Tulsa Oilers 6-4 on Saturday night at the BOK Center. Matt Marcinew and Keanu Yamamoto each had a goal and an assist in the win.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION: Last week, the Rush managed just one goal in three games at home against the Toledo Walleye. In two games so far this weekend in Tulsa, Rapid City has scored 13 goals. The Rush average 4.6 goals per game against Tulsa this season and 4.86 goals per game at the BOK Center.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME: Rapid City will play its final regular season game in Tulsa on Sunday afternoon. The Rush are 7-2-1-0 against the Oilers this season and 5-1-1-0 at the BOK Center. During the ECHL era, the Rush have gone 31-12-1 in Tulsa. Rapid City has a total of four games remaining against the Oilers, one in Tulsa and three at home at The Monument Ice Arena.
PACING THE ATTACK: Rush forward Calder Brooks scored twice second period of Saturday’s 6-4 win, extending his career high goal total to 22. Brooks is tied with Matt Marcinew for the team lead in goals. Marcinew also scored in the second period on Saturday and is one goal shy of his ECHL career high of 23.
REMEMBER HIM?: In his first two games against his former team, Rush forward Jimmy Soper has a goal, an assist, a fight and a +4 plus/minus rating. In seven games since joining the Rush, Soper has recorded three goals, two assists and two fighting majors. Over 105 games during parts of two seasons for Tulsa, Soper scored 29 goals and had 42 assists. Tulsa traded him to Norfolk in January, who then flipped him to the Rush on February 4.
THE TULSA KING: Rush forward Alex Aleardi has two goals and an assist in the Rush’s two wins over the Oilers this week and scored the game’s first goal on Saturday. Aleardi leads Rapid City with 15 points in 10 games against the Oilers this season; he has six goals and nine assists.
ODDS AND ENDS: Rapid City is 2-1-0-0 in games played on Sundays this season...Tulsa’s Max Golod has seven goals in his last four games. Prior to that he had four goals in 36 games...the Rush have tagged Tulsa goaltender Daniel Manella for 12 goals on 61 shots in the last two games. His save percentage this weekend is .803 and his goals against average is 6.09.
UP NEXT: Rapid City will head south to Texas for a pair of games next weekend in Allen against the Americans. The first is on Saturday night and puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center.
