(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced today that Drew Blevins has been named the new Manager of Community Relations and Broadcasting, and Voice of the Rush.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to join one of the premier organizations in the ECHL,” said Blevins. “The Rush organization and Spire Sports & Entertainment are held in such high regard, it’s an honor to be a part of this hockey family.”
Blevins, 28, from Wake Forest, N.C., joins the Rush after having spent two seasons with the SPHL’s Fayetteville Marksmen as their Director of Communication and Broadcast, where he was heralded as one of the top voices in the league.
"We're excited to have Drew join the Rush front office," said Jared Reid, President of the Rush. "We're confident he'll be a great fit with his passion for hockey. We can't wait for our fans to meet him and tune into Rush broadcasts."
Blevins is a 2017 graduate of North Carolina State University with a B.A. in Communication-Media and a minor in Journalism. He has covered multiple Wolfpack sports including soccer, softball, baseball, football, and basketball, and served all four years as the voice of N.C. State club hockey. After graduation, Blevins spent two years as a high school media arts teacher before accepting his first professional hockey job with the FPHLs Carolina Thunderbirds.
As an energetic and informative storyteller, Blevins brings passion and knowledge of the game to each of his broadcasts.
“I’ll be adjusting to a new place, but that’s part of the fun of it all,” said Blevins. "It’s a great opportunity in a fantastic community. I couldn’t be more excited to start a new journey here.”
