(RAPID CITY, S.D.)—The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, plays the second game of its three-in-three with the Wichita Thunder on home ice. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. MST on Thursday at The Monument Ice Arena.

LAST TIME OUT
The Rush scored the first two goals on home ice, but picked up only a point as the Thunder prevailed 3-2 at The Monument Ice Arena on Thursday. Ryan Wagner opened the scoring in the game with a breakaway goal late in the first period, his team-leading seventh goal of the season. Simon Boyko doubled the lead midway through the second period. In the end, the Rush suffered its third shootout defeat of the season, the most in the ECHL.

A NEW FACE ON THE BENCH
Chad Costello made his Rush debut as Associate Coach on Thursday. Costello, 38, spent the last two seasons as Head Coach/GM with the Allen Americans, where he won 70 regular season games and made the playoffs both years. Costello will work alongside Assistant Coach Peter Drikos with Scott Burt remaining the Rush’s Head Coach/GM. Burt, who attended yesterday’s game, is currently taking a medical leave of absence.

BOYKO BACK-TO-BACK
Second-year forward Simon Boyko has scored a goal in back-to-back games for the first time this season. Though he played just 19 Rush games last year, Boyko tallied a team-best five-game goal streak during his stint with the club.

UP WITH THE WRANGLERS
Two players who began their professional careers with the Rush this season are seeing time in the Calgary Wranglers’ (AHL) lineup. Joni Jurmo has played five consecutive games since making his AHL debut on December 1st. Trevor Janicke suited up for the first time on Wednesday.

The Rapid City Rush welcomes in the Wichita Thunder for a three-game series on December 12, 13, and 14!
