(ALLEN, Texas)—The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, play the rubber game of its three-game series with the Allen Americans. The first two games have been decided by one goal. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. CDT (6:10 p.m. MDT) on Saturday at Credit Union of Texas Event Center.
LAST TIME OUT
Blake Bennett and Ryan Chyzowski scored for the Rush, but the Americans prevailed with a 3-2 regulation win at Credit Union of Texas Event Center yesterday. Allen took a 2-0 lead by the halfway point in the game. Bennett trimmed the deficit in half with his team-leading fourth goal of the season late in the second period. On the opening shift of the third, Chyzowski tied the score at 2-2 on a deflected Chase Pauls shot. Allen would take the lead less than a minute later on Hank Crone’s eventual game-winner with 18:27 remaining in regulation.
HE JUST KEEPS ON SCORING
Blake Bennett has scored a team-high four goals this season. He has potted one in every road game thus far, the only player in the ECHL with a four-game road scoring streak. His linemate, Ryan Wagner, has an assist in all four road games, the only player in the league to do so.
ON THE RIGHT TRACK
Last night’s game had a similar feel as the home opener against Wichita: outshooting the opposition by double-digits, controlling a good amount of the game, numerous power play chances, but no standings points to show for it. The puzzle pieces are undoubtedly there for the Rush, who stand at 3-3.
BLOWOUTS ARE OVERRATED
While last night’s game featured the first multi-goal deficit for the Rush—which they erased in the third period—it became the fifth one-goal game of the six total that Rapid City has played this season. Early returns in the Mountain Division show that no one has separated themselves from the pack just yet.
HUBBARDE JOINS THE RUSH
The Rush completed the future considerations trade with Iowa that sent Alexander Stensson to the Heartlanders. Forward Matt Hubbarde, who has totaled eight points in 19 pro games, joins Rapid City. He will wear #39.
