(RAPID CITY, S.D.)—The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced Friday, in an Active Life Chiropractic roster adjustment, the club has signed Ryan Mahshie for the 2026-27 season.
Mahshie, 27, recorded 17 points (6g+11a) in 45 games with the Wheeling Nailers last season. The Rush acquired the 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward on June 20th to complete the future considerations portion of the March 13th trade which also sent Eric Parker and Cole Tymkin to Rapid City.
“I am super excited to be joining such a great organization,” said Mahshie. “I’m looking forward to bringing my compete and work ethic each night to help this team succeed and get to the playoffs. Can’t wait to get started and meet you guys in October!”
The native of Stoney Creek, Ontario has faced the Rush once with the Nailers and three times as an Allen American. Mahshie has accumulated 26 points (11g+15a) in 119 total ECHL games between Orlando, Allen, Worcester, and Wheeling.
“Ryan is a big, strong power forward who has been around the league and is great in the locker room,” said Dave Smith, Rush Head Coach and General Manager. “Having coached him in college, I have seen firsthand his positive attitude and skills on the ice.”
Mahshie is no stranger to Smith, having played three seasons under him at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before finishing his collegiate career at the University of Connecticut.
All three players the Rush received in the March trade with Wheeling have now signed for the 2026-27 season.
