(RAPID CITY, S.D.)—The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced Friday, in an Active Life Chiropractic roster adjustment, the club has re-signed Will Portokalis for the 2026-27 season.
Portokalis, 24, turned pro and joined the Rush at the tail end of last season, skating in a three-game series at Utah in April. Portokalis registered five shots on goal in the three games and saw time in multiple positions across Rapid City’s lineup.
“I am super pumped to sign in Rapid City and play in front of the best fans in the league,” said Portokalis. “I’m looking forward to meeting all the guys and helping the team make a deep playoff push this year.”
The 6-foot, 183-pound forward led Toronto Metro University in scoring last season with 33 points (14g+19a) in 28 games. Portokalis played four collegiate seasons for the Bold and totaled 80 points (35g+45a) in 109 games.
A Mississauga, Ontario native, Portokalis spent three years in the Ontario Hockey League at the junior level, the majority of which came with his hometown Mississauga Steelheads.
“Porto came in at the end of last year for a weekend series and showed that he could play up and down the lineup,” said Dave Smith, Rush Head Coach and General Manager. “He has excellent skills and IQ as evidenced by his time in university hockey.”
The Rush have announced the following player signings:
