(RAPID CITY, SD) – Two-time ECHL Goaltender of the Week Adam Morrison made 30 saves on 31 shots, but Idaho Steelheads net-minder Landon Bow stole the headline with a 27-save shutout as the Rapid City Rush fell to Idaho 1-0 on Wednesday night.
Kyle Jean put the Steelheads up in the middle of the first period, and it stood as the only goal after 20 minutes of play. With 7:44 gone by in the game, Jean carried the puck into the Rush zone, chipped it to himself, and fired a shot across his body and under the glove of Rush net-minder, Adam Morrison, to put the Steelheads up 1-0 (Andre Bouvet-Morrissette assisted).
From that moment, the goaltenders took over. Adam Morrison and Idaho goaltender Landon Bow traded game-breaking saves on each end of the ice, with Bow having to turn aside a five-on-three power play in the second period. Eventually, Morrison would be pulled for the extra-attacker, but the Rush, even with the six-on-five advantage, couldn’t solve Bow, who stopped all 27 shots he saw, and Idaho went on to win by the simple score of 1-0.
Adam Morrison was sensational, yet his 30 saves on 31 shots was not enough to secure the two points (12-10-4).
Both teams will rematch on “Rush 4 Ca$h” Night on Friday at 7:05 p.m at Premier Home Mortgage Ice in Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
