(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, announced that the team completed another future consideration’s trade to end the ECHL season.
Just prior to the Christmas holiday this season, the Rush traded for veteran goaltender Shane Owen in exchange for future considerations with the Wichita Thunder. To complete the deal, the Rush have sent forward Daniel Leavens to the Thunder.
Owen only managed to play 4 games with the Rush before leaving for other playing opportunities in Europe. The 6’2”, 195-pound net-minder went 1-3-0 with the Rush, compiling a 4.27 GAA, and .884 SV%.
Leavens came to the Rush in a trade with the Allen Americans just prior to the Owen deal for Alex Guptill, and played the remainder of the season in the Black Hills. The 6’2”, 205-pound forward appeared in 47 games with the Rush and finished with just shy of a point-per-game pace, notching 12 goals and 30 assists for 42 points. He finished his rookie season in total, the Thornhill, Ontario native played in 66 games between the Rush, Americans, and Wheeling Nailers, and scored 15 goals along with 36 assists for 51 points.
