THE TABLE IS SET, OPENING WEEKEND ROSTER REVEALED

(WICHITA, KS) – The 2013/2014 CHL season is upon us. Less than 24 hours away from the season opener against 2013 President’s Cup Runner-Up, the Wichita Thunder, Rapid City Rush Head Coach and GM Joe Ferras knows who will play in a Rush uniform tomorrow night and for the remainder of the weekend

Defenseman Gio Flamminio and forward Phil Mangan will begin the season on the Injured-Reserve list. 18 gentlemen will suit up for the Rush this weekend, with Scott Wray once again acting as team captain, assisted by two alternate captains in forward Jesse Schultz, and former CHL Defenseman of the Year, Riley Weselowski, who will play in his fifth season in the Black Hills.

Returning Rush players include defenseman Justin Sawyer, who led the CHL with 238 PIM last season, last year’s leading scorer Jared Brown, Winston Day Chief, and talented youth in Tristin Llewellyn, Justin Faryna, and Scott Brannon. Making their way back to the United States after brief stays in France are goaltender Tim Boron, who annually ranks among the top in the CHL in save percentage, and forward Konrad Reeder, who led his club in France (Morzine-Avoiraz) with 19 goals in 25 games played.

Coming from elsewhere to the Mt. Rushmore state are former Fort Wayne Komets forward Eric Giosa, former Quad City Mallards defenseman Bobby Preece, and former Bloomington Blaze teammates Ryan Palmer and Matt Larke. Rounding out the roster are three rookies: defenseman Brett Kostolansky, goaltender Keaton Hartigan, and forward Kyle Stroh, who spent time as an amateur with the Rush in last year’s President’s Cup Playoffs.

“We are excited to get the season under way, it was a high paced intense training camp and I am eager to see the mix of young and new players along with our returning players to start playing and competing at a high level,” said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras. “I feel the Rush team has the potential to put the puck in the back of the net on a consistent basis and with have upgraded our speed and puck moving ability of our hockey club from last year. With Timmy anchoring the goal and Keaton breaking into the pro game I am confident our goaltending will give us an opportunity to win a lot of hockey games”.

The game will be broadcast on CHL TV and 100.3 FM, “The FOX”, the official radio home of your Rapid City Rush. You can also listen to the game via a stream of 100.3 FM on the Rapid City Rush mobile app.
