(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, are pleased to announce that our community of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Rushmore Hockey Association have finished as national runner-ups for Kraft Hockeyville USA 2016!
“We’re extremely proud of our Rushmore Thunder hockey family and our community support. We’re very proud of how everyone rallied, not only in our community, but from all over to support Rapid City and Rushmore Thunder hockey,” said Dr. Chris Dietrich, Rush Medical Director and Rushmore Thunder Squirts and Mites Coach. “Congratulations to Marquette Lakeview Arena, and thanks to NBC and Kraft Hockeyville for this amazing opportunity.”
“Rushmore Hockey, the Rapid City Rush, and the community of Rapid City should be very proud of themselves. To be a finalist in Kraft Hockeyville with over 8,000 entries is absolutely amazing,” said Rush General Manager Joe Ferras. “The turnout today at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena of 1,800+ people shows that hockey in Rapid City from all ages is in a great place. This will only solidify and grow hockey from the grassroots level all the way to minor hockey for years to come. We are so proud of all that has been accomplished in this effort.”
As a national runner-up, the Rushmore Hockey Association and the Rushmore Thunder will receive $75,000 in arena upgrades for the Thunderdome.
