KENTON MILLER COMES TO RAPID CITY

(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, announced today that veteran forward Kenton Miller has been signed for the 2017-18 ECHL season.

Miller comes to the Rush after skating the vast majority of last season with the Elmira Jackals. The 6’0”, 200-pound forward started with the Wheeling Nailers and registered 2 points, a goal and an assist, in 8 games before heading to New York and racking 30 goals, 15 assists, and 45 points in 63 games. Last season, Miller’s fifth as a pro, marked the second time that he reached 30 goals or more in a single campaign.

“I’m very excited to play for the Rush this upcoming season for a number of reasons, particularly because this is the closest to home I’ve ever been as a professional,” said Miller on joining the Rush for their 10th anniversary season. “I’m a hard-working centerman, and I do well on my faceoffs also. Anytime I score it’s generally off of a shot or something loose in front of the net. I lead by example, so I hope I can be relied upon to score and expected to score if our team needs a goal. With everything happening for our team this season, I expect us to be number one. Formerly playing against Rapid City in Rapid City, I can tell that’s what the fans expect as well and they deserve it.”

“We are very excited to have Kenton Miller for next season. He’s a big, strong power forward that can definitely put the puck in the net,” said Rush Head Coach, Daniel Tetrault. “He’ll be a great power play guy because of his net-front presence and his quick release in the slot area. He’ll provide leadership as a character guy, and I also like the fact that he’s a farm boy from Saskatchewan. I expect him to score big goals for our team this upcoming season.”

Originally from Redvers, Saskatchewan, Miller now enters his sixth season as a professional in a career that has seen him play in 319 career games, 255 of which have been played in the ECHL with Elmira, Wheeling, Wichita, Fort Wayne, and Utah where he’s recorded 70 goals and 74 assists for 144 points. He also has 11 games of AHL experience with the Chicago Wolves, Manchester Monarchs, and Ontario Reign. Prior to playing professionally, the 26-year old played 244 games of major-junior hockey with the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs, Calgary Hitmen, and Moose Jaw Warriors over the span of four seasons.
