(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush announced today that the team has acquired Zach Fischer from the Kansas City Mavericks in exchange for the rights to Andrew Radjenovic and future considerations.
Fischer comes to the Rush towards the end of his rookie season of professional hockey with the Mavericks. The 6’1”, 200-pound forward has 3 goals, 5 assists, and 8 points in 27 games, along with 107 PIM this season.
A native of Lloydminster, Alberta, Fischer came to the professional ranks out of the WHL, appearing with the Medicine Hat Tigers for almost the entirety of his major-junior career before finishing his final season with the Spokane Chiefs. He played in 197 WHL games with both clubs, and amassed 68 goals, 54 assists, and 122 points with 296 PIM and a +16 rating. Fischer was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 2017 NHL Draft (5th Rd, #140 overall).
The Rush travel to Boise to take on the Idaho Steelheads in a three-game series this week. Puck drop for game one in CenturyLink Arena is slated for 7:10 p.m. MST tonight.
