RUSH ENGAGE IN NEW YEAR’S EVE TRANSACTIONS

(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, announced a series of Black Hills Chiropractic Roster Adjustments ahead of the New Year.

Forward Keeghan Howdeshell and defenseman Dane Birks have been recalled to the Rush’s AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners. Defenseman Charles-David Beaudoin has been assigned to the Rush by the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. Lastly, defenseman Trey Phillips has been traded to the Jacksonville Icemen in exchange for cash considerations.

Howdeshell heads to Tucson and the AHL for the first time this season. The 6’1”, 205-pound rookie forward currently has 6 goals, 10 assists, and 16 points in 25 games. Under contract with the Roadrunners, the Fenton, Michigan native has 10 points in his last 10 games (4g-6ast).

Birks also heads to Tucson and the AHL for the first time this season. The 6’2”, 190-pound blue-liner has a goal and 4 assists for 5 points, along with a +4 rating through 23 games with the Rush. On an NHL contract with the Arizona Coyotes, the Merritt, British Columbia native was most recently named an Assistant Captain of the Rush on December 20th prior to the team’s game against the Allen Americans.

Beaudoin, a third-year professional, comes to the Rush on assignment from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. The 6’0”, 185-pound blue-liner has appeared in two games with the Moose, but has spent the majority of the season with the Jacksonville Icemen, where he’s tabulated 2 goals, 5 assists, and 7 points in 20 games. For the last two seasons, Beaudoin has played in 93 games with Manitoba, scoring twice with 13 assists for 15 points and a +4 rating. Before turning professional, the Drummondville, Quebec native played two years of Canadian college hockey with the University of Quebec-Trois-Rivieres, where he was named to the 2016 OUA All-Rookie Team. Prior to his time in college, Beaudoin spent five seasons in the QMJHL with his hometown Drummondville Voltigeurs, serving as the Captain for two seasons, and Rimouski Oceanic. He compiled 30 goals, 62 assists, 92 points, and a +17 rating, while winning the 2015 QMJHL Championship with Rimouski, and earning 2014 QMJHL Humanitarian of the Year honors and the Marcel Robert Trophy as the QMJHL’s Scholastic Player of the Year in 2013.

Phillips heads to the Jacksonville Icemen for the second time in his career, having previously played for the team as a rookie last season. The Okotoks, Alberta native led all Rush defenseman with 15 points in 28 games (4g-11ast).

The Rush start off 2020 on the road to square off against the Utah Grizzlies for a “three-in-three” on January 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Puck drop for the Friday and Saturday matchups are slated for 7:10 p.m. MDT, while Sunday’s matinee is slated for 1:10 p.m. MDT at the Maverik Center.
