(RAPID CITY, S.D.) – The Rapid City Rush, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames announced Tuesday via a Heartland Health and Wellness Roster Adjustment the addition of goaltender Connor Murphy and defenseman Jarrod Gourley to the roster.
Both players are on assignment from Calgary (AHL).
Murphy, 25, from Hudson Falls, New York, comes as a highly-touted prospect from Union College. He played 93 career games with the Dutchmen and logged a career 2.93 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. In July 2022, Murphy attended Detroit Red Wings development camp prior to his senior season.
Gourley, 24, from Calgary, spent most of last season with the Adirondack Thunder, but also tallied 8 games with the AHL’s Utica Devils. He was an ECHL All-Star Game selection last season with the Thunder and has logged 48 career ECHL games and 15 career points from the blue line. He was a four-year NCAA defenseman with Arizona State and UConn before beginning his professional career in the New Jersey Devils system. During the 2016 season, Scott Burt was Gourley’s head coach during Team Canada’s U17 development camps.
Both Murphy and Gourley are available to the Rush tomorrow for the season’s opening game in Iowa at 5:35 p.m. MT.
